SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SCOPE DATA ARCHIVE, FERRARI ROMA CASE STUDY
SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SCOPE DATA ARCHIVE, 2021 FERRARI ROMA CASE. The symptom is skipping the second shift in just a few minutes after cold start only. Martin Loren's HS514Max 4 channel scope and ROTKEE RC-50 current clamp were used for the data capture and analysis. The data was captured from road test drive from cold start with 2nd shift gear working good and till the moment when the 2nd shift gear started skipping.

The comparative scope waveforms for 2 & 4 and the 5 & 7 shift solenoid valves. Both SV L and respective current was measured. Change points are marked with red flags.

Somehow the purple current waveform suddenly drops and up again after some time. The current of about 650mA stays the same from the start and the point where 2nd shift is skipping.

The current of about 650mA stays the same from the start and the point for the troubled solenoid valve. This differs significantly from the normal 5 & 7 shift solenoid current waveform.

The green current wave looking like PWM is actually the current of the normal shift solenoid valves of 5 & 7 speeds. However, this square pull down form of current is measured not periodically.

PWM for normal and abnormal shift gear solenoid valves for comparison purpose. Frequency is measured quite differently from 2 & 4 shift gear and the 5 & 7 shift gear.

DATA capture from road test drive for 2nd shift gear skipping, 2021 Ferrari Roma case study. The current measured off from TCU wire fiercing.
