Low battery warning light
Simply, this is warning you that the vehicle is using battery for electricity because of malfunctioning alternator. And in the next 10 to 60 minutes or so, the car will stall. So, immediately find the safe spot for parking and call your tow service.
Modern vehicles use many electronic modules that require steady supply of electricity. The typical voltage used in the vehicle is 12DC voltage. When the the car is running, the alternator produces AC, which is converted into DC by the rectifier. Also, steady supply of voltage is regulated by the regulator.
What are the causes of such low batter warning lights. There are a number of reasons and the most common causes are as below
- Failing alternator
- Bad battery
- Loose or bad battery connector
- Battery terminal corrosion
- Ground and wire problems
