Alternator over charging voltage testing at 2500RPM

The alternator generates more electricity at higher RPM. Since the vehicle electrical devices use 12V, over-voltage could make the devices malfunction. The voltage should be less than 15.0V even at high RPM.
Over-voltage could damage the electric devices. Watch our the serpentine belt and other rotating objects. Ensure to avoid battery electricity short.
- Connect the positive probe of the digital multimeter (DMM) to the b+ terminal of the alternator.
- Connect the DMM minus probe to the alternator case.
- After start-up, the measured value should be between 13.5V and 15.0V at least.
